Marianne & Fred JOOSTEN live close to Emmeloord, in the North of the Nertherlands. They have the biggest collection of iris in the Country. They have introduced Loïc's Iris creation Eitje and will be introducing the next ones! They also grow hundreds of different Hemerocalles.
Marianne & Fred Joosten viven près d' Emmeloord, dand le Nord ded Pays-Bas. Ils ont la plus grande collection d'iris du pays. Ils ont introduit Eitje, la première création de Loïc, et introduiront les prochaines. Ils cultivent aussi des centaines d'hémérocalles.
Their place is certainely worth a visit, especially when the irises are in bloom in May and June, also when they rebloom in September and October. The Hemerocalles give their best in the summer.
Leur exploitation vaut certainement le détour, particulièrement lorsque les iris sont en fleurs en Mai et en Juin, mais aussi lorsqu'ils refleurissent, en Septembre et en Octobre. Les Hémérocalles sont en fleur en été.
Difficult to save the world, but Gino does his bit by saving the best friends of humans : pets. Spain is a wonderful country, but pets have a hard time there. Stray cats and stray dogs are all over the place, and really struggle ! The state Gino finds them most of the time is close to your worse nightmare. Close to where the Rijn splits, Vera Boshoven is running a spacious Bed & Breakfast. She's also turned one of her buildings into an Art Shop, opened in the week-ends. If you click on 'Portfolio' you'll see she's got a good eye as a photographer.

Keramisto is a wonderful two day even in September. Keramisto offers a spectacular range of different styles of ceramics, with one hundred professionals from Europe who come to show their best.

...but i'm sure its not the last! What a display of pure beauty it was! His stall stopped us in our tracks !
We couldnt resist this 'flying' teapot. It now stands on the window sill in the kitchen, like a seagull wishing the window would open... Jeremy Nichols uses the old technique of salt glazing, with aerodynamic designs.
If you go to Keramisto in 2009, be sure to be there on the Saturday, when they open, at 10:00am ! We'll be there!
Keramisto se passe pendant un week-end de Septembre. Keramisto nous permet d'élargir notre vision de la céramique, avec cent artistes venus de toute l'Europe pour nous montrer leurs merveilles.
2008 - Troisième fois pour nous à Keramisto
Une première fois pour le Londonien Jeremy Nichols ......
.....mais certainement pas la dernière! C'était d'une pure beauté! Nous nous sommes arrétés net devant son stand et n'avons pas su résister à sa théière 'volante'. Elle est maintenant sur le rebord de la fenêtre de la cuisine, comme une mouette qui attendrait que la fenêtre s'ouvre... Jeremy utilise la technique traditionnelle de la cuisson au sel, mais appliquée à des pièces aérodynamiques.
Si vous venez à Keramisto en 2009, essayez de venir le Samedi, dès l'ouverture à 10 heures! Nous y serons!
